Dr. McComb grew up near Richmond’s Pony Pasture, in Stratford Hills. He attended Huguenot High School and played football, baseball and wrestled. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from Randolph Macon College and then completed his dental training at the Medical College of Virginia.
He started his practice in 1977 as the first ‘downtown dentist’ in more than fifteen years and then opened his west end office in 1991 in order to give the families of his downtown practice easier access. Dr. Stewart became part of his practice in 2002 and they divide their time between both offices, sometimes working together and sometimes apart. Dr. McComb belongs to several dental organizations including the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association and Richmond Dental Societies. He and his wife, Joyce, who is often at the front desk, have worked together for more than 30 years. Both give their time at the Mechanicsville Free Dental Clinic. When not working they enjoy four granddaughters and spend their time golfing in Richmond, Wintergreen and Fort Myers, Florida.
Dr. McComb has spent his career taking the fear out of dentistry and making his patients as comfortable as possible. He is empathetic to each patient and cares about their needs. He has surrounded himself with a perfect team to achieve these objectives.
Dr. Timothy Stewart has been practicing dentistry since 2002. Born and raised on the south side of Richmond, he has deep roots in the community. After attending Trinity Episcopal High School, he earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Richmond. He then moved to Gainesville, Florida for SEC football and the College of Dentistry at the University of Florida. After graduation, he returned to his home town. He is married to his college sweetheart, Laura, and they have two young daughters.
Dr. Stewart has a strong interest in continuing education. In 2008, he received certification to perform Invisalign dentistry, a non-invasive form of orthodontics particularly appealing to busy adults. Dr. Stewart also has a special interest in fields linking oral health to a person’s overall good health. This area of concern led him to study dental sleep medicine and form a working relationship with a local physician who specializes in sleep apnea, among other sleep disorders.
Dr. Stewart is a member of several professional organizations including the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, and the Virginia Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. He enjoys volunteering as a dentist with CARITAS and the Mechanicsville Free Dental Clinic and as a driver for the Richmond Federation for the Blind. He also volunteers in many capacities in his daughters’ activities such as soccer coach, basketball coach, LEGO coach and tribe leader for the Y Princesses. Dr. Stewart has been “thrown in jail” by the Muscular Dystrophy Association and has grown a mustache to raise money for several children’s charities (and to irritate his wife.)
Dr. Stewart’s philosophy on dental care is simple: Treat every mouth as if it were his own. He believes in quality treatment in a relaxed, enjoyable environment. It’s important to Dr. Stewart to schedule ample time for each appointment in order to get to know his patients medically and personally. He wants to be your dental care provider for a long time to come.
